Background on ACTED
ACTED is an independent international, private, non-partisan and non-profitorganization that operates according to principles of strict neutrality,political and religious impartiality, and non discrimination.
ACTEDwas created in 1993 to support populations affected by the conflict inAfghanistan. Based in Paris, France, ACTED now operates in 30 countriesworldwide, with over 200 international and 4000 national staff. ACTED has a 100million € budget for over 350 projects spanning 8 sectors of intervention;including emergency relief, food security, health promotion, economicdevelopment, education & training, microfinance, local governance &institutional support.
ACTEDlaunched its mission in India at the beginning of 2005 in emergency response tothe Tsunami.
In2011, ACTED maintained its disaster response capacity in order to be able torespond rapidly and effectively to disasters in India, with a strong focus onthe state of West Bengal. With the objective of strengthening the resilience ofcommunities affected annually by these disasters, disaster risk reduction (DRR)has become a core component of ACTED’s activities, with the implementation ofstandalone DRR projects, as well as an increased focus on mainstreaming DRRthrough all projects.
Forthe India mission, 2012 is another year of response and recovery andconsolidation of our DRR experience and capacity, but also the exploration ofniche areas where ACTED’s global expertise and local network allow us to make acontribution to the development of some of the most underdeveloped andmarginalized communities in the country
TheReporting Intern ensures the production of timely reports for the ReportingManager as well as the Country Director. He/she assists the Reporting Managerand the Country Director in developing internal and external countrycommunication strategies
Under the supervision of the Reporting Manager, thereporting intern will:
•Collect and synthesize data from the field, and draft reports in cooperationwith project management, finance, monitoring and evaluation, and other fieldcoordination departments
•Assist the Reporting Manager in developing project proposals, addressing ad hocdonor requests or catalysing action on specific projects or components ofprojects
•Liaise with external partners and represent ACTED in coordination andinformation meetings with NGOs, donors, and other humanitarian actors.
•Postgraduate diploma in Journalism, International Relations or a relevant field
•Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English
•Excellent writing and communication skills
•Ability to work efficiently under pressure
FieldIntern benefits include: a 300 USD per month living allowance, coverage of allaccommodation, food, and travel costs, a luggage allowance of 50 kg., and theprovision of medical, repatriation, and life insurance
