Udayan Care, is a Public Charitable Trust, working for the last 20 years, for the quality care of disadvantaged children and women. It was founded in 1994 and believes in “nurturing home for every orphaned child; an opportunity for higher education for every girl, for every adult the dignity of self-reliance and the desire to give back to society”. Udayan Care is a premier organization in the country for introducing group foster care in the homes for orphaned and destitute children while also giving girls financial and development support to continue higher education, and communities to train themselves in vocations, by engaging socially committed individuals, who provide a transformative, nurturing and mentoring environment, to help them realize their full potential. The basis of their work lies in its commitment to the principle of equality and rights, developing the capacity of civil society to enable them to take responsibility for restoring child rights and replicating successful models that have worked.

 

Job Overview

Udayan Care seeks to engage socially committed individuals to lead, supervise and manage directly a team of fundraisers and lead through example for the purpose. This position requires a passion and drive to work in an evolving social sector organization.

 The Director- Resource Mobilization will be based in Delhi and will be responsible for generating funds from all available sources for Udayan Care. This includes individual, institutional, corporate and events.

Candidate Profile

 

The candidate will be able to:

  • Develop, write and present Udayan Care’s fundraising strategy
  • Implement a sustainable fundraising plan for different avenues of resource mobilization viz. individual donors, sponsors, corporates, government, institutional funding agencies, events, fundraising websites, social media, selling products etc.
  • Represent Udayan Care to individuals, Corporate, Institution, NGOs, iNGOS, governmental agencies, stakeholders, economic forums, business forums and high level authorities/dignitaries and manage these relationships
  • Responsible for raising funds from HNIs, Donor agencies, bilateral and multilateral organizations, events, Fundraising websites, social media and through selling products.  
  • Source, induct and train and supervise Resource Mobilization staff
  • Build new and strengthen the existing relationships with key donors by building fund-raising capacity with programme teams
  • Forecast levels of donor contributions based on systematic gathering and updating of relevant information.
  • Gather and analyze information about Individual and private sector donor policies, trends and preferences; keep abreast of private sector corporate social responsibility (CSR) movements.
  • Analyze and provide advice to programme staff on funding policies.
  • Create a team for fundraising through various avenues.
  • Supervise a long term and short term volunteers and interns
  • Excellent Communication and Presentation skills.

Preferred Experience

 ·         6-10 years total experience with at least 2 years experience in leading teams, mentoring staff and managing partnerships with reputed NGOs.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with excellent record and experience in fundraising.
  • Prior experience of building up a fund raising team in a development organization would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in developing proposals and budget for institutional donors
  • Experience in contract/MoU management
  • Experience in the concepts and proposals for private sector’s participation in various development programmes.
  • Strong personal and social values.
  • Orientation in networking with people of influence.

Role

To lead a committed and dedicated care giving team comprising social workers, care staff, mentor parents and 

volunteers to achieve the best possible outcomes for children living in the Ghars – Udayan Care’s children’s 

residential care programme

Job Responsibilities

 Key Responsibilities

Strategic

Identify programme development opportunities and write proposals to funders and government 

departments about the Ghar programme

Provide leadership, management and training to the Ghar care giving team

Develop operations strategy reflecting quality assurance, legal and organisational compliance for the 

Ghar programme

Develop and monitor annual operating budget for the Ghar Programme with a monthly financial 

review

Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems and processes for the programme 

Networking and representing Udayan Care to all relevant forums – NGOs, Government agencies, 

potential and current donors

Guide Research work carried out across Children’s Homes

Operational

Liaise with government departments for registration, licensing and other legal compliances

Liaise with donors/ fund raising and finance department on spending and budgetary reviews, 

ensuring cost effective spending

Ensure timely reporting for government bodies and donors

Effectively manage information on legal aspects/ donors/ reports and proceedings at all Homes AND 

After Care Program through a centralized monitoring system (MIS)

Facilitate quality education and vocational training to children in Udayan Ghars AND After Care 

Program for striving towards making their lives self-reliant 

Ensure Comprehensive health and hygiene care for children in Udayan Ghars through standards of 

care and protection

Ensure psycho-social well being of children in Udayan Ghars AND After Care through Mental 

Health Programme

Source and coordinate leisure, social, cultural, educational and sports events across the homes

Capacity Building and Audit 

Arrange internal and external capacity building opportunities for Children, Mentor parents, 

counselors, and care staff.

Liaise with mentor parents and social workers to identify resource gaps and make representation to 

management.

Conducting audit as per statutory Requirements and International Standards of Care and Protection in 

Udayan Ghars AND After Care Homes

Provision of leadership to the organisation - program managers and support staff whilst acting as a liaison between the 

Managing Trustee and Program Managers

Udayan Care has been growing steadily and is now seeking to accelerate growth. The Board is looking for a mission-
focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience of operational management, monitoring and 

evaluation, leading an executive management team, and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse, 

talented individuals. The COO must be a leader who is able to help others at Udayan Care deliver measurable, cost-
effective results that make the vision a reality. While it is essential that the COO bring efficient and effective systems to 

increase the productivity of the organisation, is it also critical that the team retain the creative spark that drives the Udayan 

Care concept. "

• Reporting directly to the Managing Trustee/ CEO, answerable to the Board of Trustees

• Directly responsible for: All Directors and Managers, for all programmes and divisions

• Becomes a motivator to the long term and short term volunteers that Udayan Care thrives on.

• Co-ordination with consultant staff e.g. psychologists, Internal and External Auditors, etc

• Leadership to direct reports in keeping with overall vision of Udayan Care as laid 

out by Managing Trustee and Board

• Operational Management of all programmes and support functions

• Generate and manage human resources to ensure long term sustainability of the 

organisation

• Strategic thinking and inputs on all projects and proposals

• Liaison between Managing Trustee and Key Staff

• Ensuring that all aspects of Udayan Care’s functioning fall within the legal 

framework of the law of the land in general and the laws specific to each 

programme and area of functioning

• To ensure that Udayan Care is led and governed through its Strategic Plan and 

maintain a regularly updated, rolling, five year strategic planning process

• To work closely with the Board to ensure there is clarity throughout the 

organisation regarding the Strategic and Annual Operating Plan.

• To develop, implement and evaluate the annual operating budget of the 

organisation within the context of the Strategic Plan.

• Plan seminars, workshops, and such other activities as fall within the ambit of 

work Udayan Care is and would be involved in.

• To be able to act as a think tank for Udayan Care.

• To develop and implement a strategy for the development of sources of financial 

support to meet targets agreed by the Board and sufficient to support the 

programs and create long-term sustainability.

• To provide leadership, motivation, inspiration and information to staff 

• To implement a regular and interactive performance evaluation process 

throughout the organisation.

Communications, PR & Fund raising

• To promote Udayan Care as a leader in the sector through effective 

communication processes with external audiences

• To develop and maintain an updated database of stakeholders and establish a 

multi-stakeholder network consisting of donors and supporters through effective 

representation of Udayan Care in the sector. 

• To get new donors to invest in Udayan Care, while encouraging existing donors to 

invest more, and set the process for effective local resource mobilization as part 

of developing a strong organisation. 

• To ensure that the fund raising strategies are in place and commensurate with the 

growth of needs of the organisation.

Key Skills Required

• S/he should be experienced in operational and financial management, legal aspects, planning, 

implementing and monitoring programs in the field of social development, preferably child rights 

and education. Should possess ability to prepare and evaluate project proposals, reports, be able to 

network with national and international organisations as well as individuals for seeking support for 

organisation’s projects.

• S/he should have strong leadership and management qualities, along with a high level of personal 

energy, commitment, entrepreneurial flair, communication skills with good spoken and written 

English. He s/he should particularly be good at financial controls and operational management

• S/he should possess excellent computer related knowledge/skills and be adept in using Internet and 

MS Office packages including Power Point, Excel, etc.

DESIRED PROFILE

Education Experience

• Candidate should hold Masters degree in 

Social work, Business Administration or 

Social Sciences from a reputed university.

• Experience: Candidate should possess minimum 

10 years of relevant experience. 

• Age: Preferred age would be 45 yrs and above, 

though this is not a limitation. Retired persons 

with a proven relevant track record will also be 

considered

• Computer (Microsoft Office) and Internet efficient
